What is Web site hosting, and why is hosting important to my business?
Web site hosting is the business of housing and maintaining files for one or more Web sites. Hosting services allow people and businesses to get their sites online and store their customers’ data on secured servers. Can't I just set up my own Web server or use an Internet service provider (ISP)?

How do I get started?

What do I get for my money?
Exactly what you need. We offer a variety of base plans that include between 100 MB and 500 MB of storage space, and that allow traffic anywhere between 5 GB and 30 GB per month. Our plans are customizable, so you can make additions but you’ll never have to purchase more than you need. Take a look at our Hosting Plans for complete pricing and features details.
Do I get a choice between using Windows NT and UNIX?
We recommend you use a UNIX server for your site, but we do offer Windows 2000 service as well. UNIX and Windows 2000 servers both support FrontPage 2000 extensions.
What are Microsoft FrontPage extensions? What support do you offer for them?
Microsoft FrontPage extensions can add extra functionality to your site. Users who design and manage pages with Microsoft FrontPage can take advantage of special server-side support for the extensions. We provide support for Microsoft FrontPage 2000 extensions on Windows 2000 and UNIX.
What other technologies do you support?
We support all of the latest Internet technologies, including, but not limited to:

Do I have to be a computer expert to set up a Web site?
Absolutely not. There are several templates and other user tools available on our client extranet to help you set up your Web site. The client extranet includes tools that make it simple for novice users to set up a site, while allowing enough flexibility to keep even the most advanced users satisfied.
How do I know which plan is right for me? Can I get in touch with someone to discuss my options?

What billing options are available? Do you offer automatic billing?
You can pay using a credit card or printed check. Using a credit card guarantees instant access to your new account. If you pay with a check, we will notify you as soon as your check is received and processed.
What credit cards do you accept?
Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club.
Do you accept international accounts?
Yes. We can accept international payments via check or credit card.
Can I upgrade to a different service plan in the future?
You can make changes to your account at any time. If you find you need a more extensive plan than the one you’re signed up for, you can easily switch plans or add extra services. Likewise, if you find you signed up for a more comprehensive plan than you needed, you can downgrade to a more basic plan.
What if I exceed my monthly transfer allowance?
Once you are approaching your limit, you will be notified via e-mail. If you exceed your limit, there is a charge. We recommend that if you often approach or exceed your limit you upgrade to a more comprehensive plan.
What if I want to cancel my account? Are there any fees?
If you cancel your account, you will not be obligated to pay for more time than you actually use. If you prepaid to receive free bonus months under a Tupson Technologies promotion, you will be reimbursed for your unused time and you will lose the free bonus months.
Are there any “hidden” fees?
No. You don’t have to deal with any hidden fees as a Tupson Technologies customer.
How do I get customer support?
You can contact ClientCare about any issue by telephone or by e-mail at absolutely any time. Our support staff is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week, 365 days per year.

Can I transfer my site from another Web Hosting service? What’s involved in making the transfer?
Yes you can. We make the transition as smooth as possible. For instance, if you want to take advantage of a Tupson Technologies new user promotion but are committed to your current hosting service, you can contact us and we’ll lock-in the promotion for your account. You’ll be able to get the, benefits of the promotion when your current service contract is up and your ready to become a Tupson Technologies account holder.
Do I have to include advertisements or pop-up windows on my site?
No. Tupson Technologies does not require you to advertise our services or anyone else’s. However, you can choose to add advertisers to boost revenues to your site, and we can help you find potential advertisers.

Are any guarantees available?
Tupson Technologies offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on the monthly service charge.
What software do I use to access my site to make changes or monitor site statistics?
The Site Monitor Interface is the easiest way for most users to maintain their accounts. It can be used from any computer that is connected to the Internet. You can also use other Web site-authoring software, such as Microsoft FrontPage, and upload your pages via FTP or a built-in publishing feature.
Do you offer help with learning how to develop my web site?
The client extranet hassuggestions that give you a start when creating pages and organizing your site.
Can I access my site from any computer?
You can access and maintain your site from any computer using the online Site Monitor Interface.
Why should I register my domain name using Tupson Technologies?
If you need a new domain name, the Site Monitor Interface makes registration quick and easy. The registrar used by Tupson Technologies, OpenSRS, charges a small fee for registration. Tupson Technologies does not charge you any fees for registration above this cost. If you already own a name that you registered with another service, you can use that with your Tupson Technologies account as well.
How long does it take to register or transfer a domain name?
It only takes a few minutes to register a domain, but a site may not be instantly available at its registered name worldwide. However, in some areas it may be available after only a few hours. This is because Internet DNS databases retrieve new listings from one another but only update about once a day, causing a delay. The delay is typical of domain registrations and cannot be controlled by Tupson Technologies or any registrar. We handle domain transfers automatically. It takes up to 48 hours for a transfer to occur.
Can I access my site either with or without the “www” prefix?
Yes. Our servers are configured to recognize either form of your domain.
What top level domains do you support?
We support all TLDs supported by our registrar, OpenSRS. That currently includes .com, .net, and .org. We can also host pages with other TLDs.
How long can my domain name be and what characters can I use?
Your domain name can be up to 63 characters long, not counting the TLD, although some older Internet programs only support domains up to 26 characters long. You can use numbers, letters and hyphens in your domain name.
Can I set up more than one domain from a single account? What about pointer domains?
Yes. Under all current Tupson Technologies hosting plans (except the Value|Host and NT|Value plans), you can add a new domain or pointer domain to your account for only $10.0¹. You can set up a pointer subdomain at no additional cost.
Can I set up Subdomains?
You can easily add Subdomains with the Site Monitor Interface.
How is my e-mail account handled?
You can access your e-mail with any client that supports POP3 e-mail. We also provide a webmail client. You can set e-mail preferences from the Site Monitor Interface.
Can I get mail forwarded to another server?
Yes. The option is available from the Site Monitor Interface.
Can I conduct transactions through my site? Will they be secure?
Yes. Tupson Technologies supports the all current secure transaction protocols, such as SSL.
What is SSL?
SSL, or Secure Sockets Layer, is the most widely used security protocol on the Internet. During an SSL session, a Web server and browser send encrypted data and secret keys back and forth to prevent the data from being intercepted. SSL is commonly used to transmit private or sensitive information, such as financial data, over the Internet. SSL is sometimes referred to as “Netscape” Encryption, but users of both Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer can take advantage of SSL. Most other browsers support SSL as well.

Yes. We can put you in contact with a merchant account provider.
